Under general direction of the Deputy Highway Commissioner – Operations, the Assistant Maintenance Superintendent supervises, plans, assigns, directs and monitors the work of large and small groups of employees, e.g., crew leaders and skilled laborers. Activities include: planning the work day, ordering materials and assigning maintenance equipment for an extensive system of State and County highways, roads, and streets.  When required, temporarily performs Deputy Highway Commissioner – Operations duties in their absence.  Monitors construction work performed by private contractors affecting county highways. Monitors utility construction in County and State right-of-way. Trains personnel and performs other related work as required.
