Waushara County Highway Department is Hiring: Highway Worker (Full-Time)

Location: Waushara County, WI

Pay & Benefits:

Wage: $24.42 – $26.06 per hour (based on relevant experience)

• Overtime pay during weather events and maintenance
• $200 annual Safety/Boot Allowance

What You’ll Do:

• Maintain and repair county roads: patching, paving, sealing, snow plowing, salting, sanding
• Keep right-of-ways safe: mow grass, remove debris, clear hazards
• Inspect, operate, and maintain trucks, snowplows, and heavy equipment
• Perform minor repairs on equipment, buildings, and grounds
• Assist with traffic control and promote road safety
• Respond promptly to weather events and emergencies — overtime required as needed

What We’re Looking For

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience: 4-6 years in road maintenance and/or construction preferred
• License: Valid Wisconsin CDL with air brake and tanker endorsements

Skills:

• Knowledge of road repair materials, methods, and equipment
• Ability to operate and maintain heavy machinery
• Professional, respectful interaction with the public
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Working Conditions

• Outdoor work in all Wisconsin weather
• Physical activity: lifting (up to 100 lbs), climbing, kneeling, operating equipment
